Uses of Write-n-Record

Write-n-Record will be useful in any situation where it is necessary to make handwritten notes and simultaneously record sound or pictures. It becomes most valuable when many sessions occur and notes and recordings from each must be stored and retrieved on demand. Below are some examples.
  • Medical examinations -- When a patient is examined by a physician or other medical professional, accurate recording of the examination is necessary for completeness of the patient's records. Since the examiner is generally busy with the process of examination, it is difficult for him or her to make elaborate notes at the same time. However, a sound recording can capture the complete session without taking any of the examiner's time. The examiner can make whatever notes are needed to summarize the examination and its results, while the sound recording provides an exact transcript of what happened during the exam.
In a doctor's office or clinic, many examinations take place all day long, possibly tens or even hundreds in a busy office. Write-n-Record allows sound recording (or photographs) to be added to all exams without creating any additional work for the examiners or the office personnel. Storage and tracking of recordings is automatic, and any recording may be instantly retrieved by scanning the session's note paper.
  • Insurance, public safety, or other investigations -- An investigator has the job of visiting a site and collecting data in the form of notes, photographs, and videos to capture the condition of the site and to record the investigator's own observations. Write-n-Record on a handheld PC is the ideal tool for this kind of task.
  • Interviews - These generally involve one or more people questioning one or more other people. The results of the interview must be captured and stored by the questioner(s) for future review. In many situations, such as personnel offices, detective work, legal discovery, or social work, interviews are happening all the time and the accurate sound transcripts, photographs, and retrieval features provided by Write-n-Record will be invaluable.
  • Lectures - In an educational environment, students must make notes at lectures to capture the information being delivered by the lecturer. Making good notes distracts the student's attention away from grasping the entire content of the lecture. Using Write-n-Record in this situation is valuable because the student can concentrate on understanding the subject during the lecture, but he or she will have a sound transcript of the lecture for future study.
